Jack and Jill Nursery teachers work in pre-school, nursery and reception classes with children aged between 0 to 4 Years. They plan and carry out activities with the requirements of the early years foundation stage (EYFS).

This involves developing work schemes and lessons plans to motivate children and imaginatively using resources to help them learn.

Early years teachers develop the social and communication skills of children and provide a safe and secure environment in which the child can learn.

Early years teachers record observations and summarize the children's achievements. They focus on optimum child development and preparation for a successful transition to primary school education.

Responsibilities:

As an Early Years Teacher, you'll be concerned with helping children to achieve early learning goals. You'll need to:

  • Motivate and stimulate a child's learning abilities, often encouraging learning through experience.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to children and give them with a secure learning environment.
  • Assist with the development of a child's personal, social, language and physical coordination abilities.
  • Develop and produce visual aids and teaching resources.
  • Encourage mathematical and creative development through stories, songs, games, drawing and imaginative play.
  • Help children develop curiosity and knowledge.
  • Work with others, including teaching assistants and nursery nurses as well as volunteer helpers, to plan and coordinate work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Share knowledge gained with other Jack and Jill Nursery practitioners build and maintain relationships with parents.
  • Observe, assess and record each child's progress on daily basis with attendance records.
  • Ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery.
  • Keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice.

Salary:

Pay and conditions are set by individual employers, so will vary depending on the setting in which you work. Our starting salaries are very competitive with the current market status, after gaining experience and expertise; you may be able to achieve higher salaries in which the Roles in this bracket will often include supervisory or management duties.

Working hours

  • Jack and Jill Nursery working hours from 7:30am until 4:00pm, you'll start earlier than 9am to prepare and set up activities for the day which are prepared previously by the teacher. 5 Days a week, Weekends OFF
  • Extra hours may be required for staff meetings, inspections and parent consultations.

Qualifications-Cache-3 Mandatory

To become an early years teacher, you will need to gain early years teacher status (EYTS). To gain EYTS, you will need to complete an early years initial teacher training with Jack and Jill Nursery, You need a 4year Degree/ bachelor degree from a reputable university.

Early years teachers teach all areas of the foundation stage, which is focused on helping children to achieve early learning goals. Work carried out includes:

  • Motivating and stimulating children's learning abilities, often encouraging learning through experience

  • Developing children's curiosity and knowledge; working with others, including teaching assistants and nursery nurses as well as to plan and coordinate work both indoors and outdoors
  • Sharing knowledge gained with other practitioners and parents
  • Observing, assessing and recording each child's progress
  • Attending in-service training, ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery * Keeping up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice.
